WGA enters into agreement to join AtkinsRéalis Combining strong local relationships with global engineering expertise to support the next generation of infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand
WGA (Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec) has entered into an agreement to join AtkinsRéalis, a world‑class engineering services company. The agreement brings together WGA’s deep regional expertise and long‑standing client relationships with AtkinsRéalis’ global technical capability, investment strength and international reach.
For more than 40 years, WGA has built a strong reputation for delivering practical, high‑quality infrastructure that supports the everyday needs of communities across Australia and New Zealand. With more than 800 people across the region, WGA’s teams are known for their local knowledge, hands‑on delivery approach and trusted client partnerships.
By joining AtkinsRéalis, WGA will be able to expand the depth and breadth of expertise available to clients, delivering more integrated solutions across key markets including buildings and places, transportation, defence, resources, and power and renewables. The combined capability will strengthen WGA’s ability to support large, complex and multi‑year infrastructure programs while remaining closely connected to local communities.
The agreement includes WGA’s New Zealand business, along with LDE – a 120‑person engineering and science consultancy acquired by WGA in November 2025. Together, WGA and LDE will be further supported by AtkinsRéalis’ global experience to help deliver New Zealand’s growing infrastructure programme and contribute to broader growth across the Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) region.
Ben Stapleton, Joint Managing Director of WGA, said the agreement represents a natural next step in the firm’s evolution.
“For more than 40 years, WGA has delivered practical, buildable engineering solutions by being deeply regionally embedded, backing our people, and building long‑term, trusted partnerships with our clients,” Ben said.
“This agreement allows us to build on those strengths by connecting our team to broader technical expertise, global opportunities and investment, supporting the next phase of our growth across Australia and New Zealand. Importantly, we can do this while staying true to what makes WGA unique, with strong cultural alignment and shared strategic priorities.”
As demand continues to grow for new and upgraded infrastructure across regional corridors, ports and marine environments, defence, energy, and civic and community assets, WGA and AtkinsRéalis will focus on applying the right expertise where it can have the greatest impact.
The proposed transaction will be implemented by way of a scheme of arrangement under Part 5.1 of the Australian Corporations Act and is subject to shareholder and court approval, customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
