Tom Rowe Senior Structural Maritime Engineer

Tom leads WGA’s Ports and Marine team in New Zealand, bringing nearly a decade of structural engineering experience across North America and New Zealand. With a strong background in designing and delivering critical bridge and marine infrastructure, Tom has built a reputation for his technical excellence and ability to manage complex coastal projects. His portfolio includes the design of pile and deck piers, berthing and mooring dolphins, quay walls, small craft harbours, and other essential marine structures. 

Tom honed his focus on ports and marine infrastructure during five formative years in British Columbia, Canada, where he contributed to a wide array of projects—from terminal design-builds to shipyard outfitting piers. Some of his career highlights are working on the NCTIR Kaikōura Earthquake Recovery Alliance and the LNG Canada Project in Kitimat, which played a pivotal role in shaping his technical skill set. 

His passion for engineering is deeply connected to tackling the unique challenges of working by the sea. This drive has taken him across the globe, developing his expertise in varied and often demanding conditions. Today, Tom works with teams across projects spanning from the Coromandel (NZ), South Australia, and the Solomon Islands. 

A Chartered Member of Engineering New Zealand and an active member of the New Zealand Coastal Society, Tom is a passionate and driven engineer dedicated to advancing resilient, high-performing marine infrastructure across the region.
